Joe Levickas

Joe LevickasI am proud and excited to be in my ninth year at Arts at Michigan, and in my third as Program Director. My work with Arts at Michigan has offered great opportunities for me to support students in experiencing, understanding, and creating art. I stand proudly behind Arts at Michigan's philosophy 'that the arts are essential to shaping our individual and collective identities and understanding what it means to be a citizen of a diverse multi-cultural society.'

I earned my BFA from University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and my MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, both in Painting. I helped coordinate programs and exhibitions at Pratt Institute and The Cooper Union in New York, and at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh. As an artist, curator and arts professional, the arts have been a driving force in my career, and I’m really excited to be working in a position that gives me new opportunities each day to share that passion. I love going to all sorts of arts events with my wife and son and seeing offbeat film and theatre productions. I love art museums and mid century modern design. I have a unique fondness for music from 1993-1994, a love of tacos, French food, pizza, and all types of cheese. And I’m a serious New York Yankees fan.

Rachel Parke

Program Specialist

Rachel Parke I am beginning my third year as the Program Specialist at Arts at Michigan. Through this position I've connected students to the arts through arts competitions, trips to arts experiences, discussions about and explorations of arts interests, and more! Building meaningful connections between the arts and my community is extremely important to me and I'm thrilled to be able to nurture that passion at the University of Michigan!

I earned by Bachelor’s Degree in arts education at Aquinas College and continued my education at Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in art administration and nonprofit management. Prior to my position at Arts at Michigan I served as the Program and Communications Manager at both The Arts Alliance and Artrain, Inc. In this role I developed a strong network of arts and cultural organizations in Washtenaw County.

Outside of U-M I am an organizer of DIYpsi, a biannual indie art fair in Ypsilanti. Through DIYpsi I have supported the businesses of a large number of independent artists in SE Michigan and beyond. If you attend an indie art fair in SE Michigan there's a good chance you will see me there working, volunteering, or shopping!

Baxter Banghart

Website Designer

Baxter Banghart I am currently a sophomore double majoring in Computer Science and Data Science at the College of Engineering with my eyes set on a future in Artificial Intelliegence and Machine Learning. I also spent a good portion of time studying Computer Science at Western Michigan University prior to college proper.

In my free time I enjoy tinkering with computers, playing guitar, developing my cooking skills, and compulsively changing my computer wallpaper. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone should find a place for art somewhere in their life regardless of their other interests. Life would be kind of boring without it.

Tina Ji

Program Assistant

Tina JiI am a junior at U of M majoring in Art and Design and minoring in History of Art, Entrepreneurship, and Asian Studies. My journey with art started when I stepped onto a plane to Canada alone with a dream of becoming a fashion designer at age ten. Ever since then, I had always been interested in arts. Through practicing the art and seeing other people's work, I was able to find my haven, where I felt like I can be a true self. It has become a tool for me to communicate myself better. Art has shaped me into who I am today - determined, versatile and passionate.

In my spare time, I love going on Etsy to see other artists' work and to collect them. I also love trying new food. My goal before I graduate U of M is to try all of the restaurants in Ann Arbor.

Renzi Wise

Program Assistant

Renzi Wise I am a senior at U-M majoring in Public Policy and minoring in History of Art. I've been exploring the arts for as long as I can remember and have dabbled in various mediums from theater to watercolors to oils to fashion and costume design to pottery and photography. While I didn't decide to major in an explicitly arts-related field, I knew I had to keep the arts in my life somehow. Working for Arts at Michigan as a Program Assistant has allowed me to do so, keeping me up to date on arts happenings on campus and allowing me to help other students experience the importance of the arts. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, painting, doing the crossword, and going hiking whenever I get the chance!
