After months of wanting a plant in my room and complaining to my roommate to get me one, I finally got my wish.\u00c2\u00a0 His name is Francesco and he is a Wandering Jew.\u00c2\u00a0 For those of you who aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t botanists or who don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have sacred relations with plants, a Wandering Jew is a plant with long purple and green leaves that grow sporadically.\u00c2\u00a0 I like to say Francesco has a mind of his own because of his wild growth patterns.\u00c2\u00a0 He is a free man and no mother can constrain him.\u00c2\u00a0 He is a rebellious teenager and I just have to let him grow.<\/p>\n
Things have really changed since he has come into my life.\u00c2\u00a0 First of all, I never feel completely alone anymore now that I have him in my room.\u00c2\u00a0 It is a comforting, yet also a weird feeling, like I am always being watched.\u00c2\u00a0 He is a living being, so it would make sense that I can feel his presence, right?\u00c2\u00a0 He is almost like a child.\u00c2\u00a0 I have to water him and tend to him when he is sick (by plucking off his dying leaves).\u00c2\u00a0 He would die without me.\u00c2\u00a0 He is dependent upon me and I like that feeling.<\/p>\n
You know how people say that the elderly live longer when they have plants?\u00c2\u00a0 Well, maybe there is a correlation with plants and college students, too?\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe they are a stress reducer or a boyfriend reducer\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6one of the two.<\/p>\n
Since he has come into my room he has flourished.\u00c2\u00a0 I think I have to repot him soon, he is outgrowing his current one.\u00c2\u00a0 I do not know much about plants, but I won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tell him that.\u00c2\u00a0 He thinks I am the best Mom in the world.\u00c2\u00a0 He is my first plant child and I look forward to a long relationship with him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
