Since fourth grade<\/p>\n
My single driving force<\/p>\n
Aspiration<\/p>\n
Ultimate goal<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Was to be a<\/p>\n
Maize and Blue<\/p>\n
Student<\/p>\n
Supporter<\/p>\n
And success<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
That last part<\/p>\n
Has proved challenging<\/p>\n
And a twinge undesirable<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The place I called home before any other<\/p>\n
Apart from the womb<\/p>\n
My childhood bedroom<\/p>\n
A zany yellow on the walls<\/p>\n
In an artificial cheer<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It was not always<\/p>\n
So cheerful.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Something I learned recently<\/p>\n
A rather depressing fact<\/p>\n
Bananas are disagreeable.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For all of the cramps I sustain<\/p>\n
Apologies in advance<\/p>\n
To my near and distant future<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
My eyes loathe the sun<\/p>\n
It’s bright rays<\/p>\n
The sweat beading<\/p>\n
It’s a sticky sort of hatred<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It never ceases to amaze<\/p>\n
How ironic the world is.<\/p>\n
Connections and coincidences<\/p>\n
In fascinating alignments<\/p>\n
All for the purpose of absurdity<\/p>\n
Made sensical<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Blue has become a recent tenant<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Paint rollers glided like waves<\/p>\n
Creating a sky along the walls<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Each raindrop and cloud<\/p>\n
Brings a comforting cold<\/p>\n
And reminder<\/p>\n
Of dirt’s occasional aroma<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I’ve often been blue<\/p>\n
Sad beyond belief<\/p>\n
Swallowed by a riptide<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But it’s in those moments<\/p>\n
That I’m grateful<\/p>\n
For it all<\/p>\n
For the joy<\/p>\n
For the tears<\/p>\n
For the bananas I cannot digest<\/p>\n
And for the Zen in my bedroom<\/p>\n
That served as a transition<\/p>\n
Between color and emotion<\/p>\n
