As a band geek desperate for fall to arrive again, I have compiled a 1000000000% foolproof way to ensure your winter semester will not be so depressing now that there is no marching band.\u00a0 Just follow these easy steps, and you will be cured of your malaise!<\/p>\n

Ten Things to Do During the Off-Season<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Go to Class.\u00a0\u00a0There’s not really much else to do, and tuition isn’t exactly cheap, so this is definitely a good place to start.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Build a Trebuchet.\u00a0\u00a0Are you good at engineering?\u00a0 Do you have an esoteric interest in medieval siege weapons that can yeet heavy objects such as cheese and cows up to 300 feet away?\u00a0 Well, have I got an activity for you!\u00a0 Using nothing but sticks and compostable utensils from the dining hall, you can bide your time by building a trebuchet that will collapse if there’s so much as a soft breeze!<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. Go Ice Skating.\u00a0\u00a0Ice required.<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Practice Your Instrument.\u00a0\u00a0What?\u00a0 Practicing?\u00a0 In the off-season?\u00a0 It’s more common than you think.<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Play With Your Stuffed Octopus.\u00a0\u00a0Even evil plush octopi need friends to cuddle!\u00a0 Become a companion to your stuffed octopus overlord today, and you will be spared when The Army takes control of campus!<\/em><\/li>\n
  6. Develop Your Social Life.\u00a0\u00a0You’re a band geek.\u00a0 You don’t have a social life outside of band.\u00a0 Proceed to 7.<\/em><\/li>\n
  7. Learn How to Play the Kahoot Theme.\u00a0\u00a0If you’re in a dorm and want to use a music practice room, play the Kahoot theme on the side while you’re having an intellectual conversation with your family.\u00a0 That way, you’re not abusing the practice room!\u00a0 Sheet music not included.<\/em><\/li>\n
  8. Cry.\u00a0\u00a0You want to be in marching band forever.\u00a0 You don’t want to adult.\u00a0 The real world is scary.\u00a0 The real world doesn’t have marching band.<\/em><\/li>\n
  9. Repeat Step 8.<\/li>\n
  10. Listen to Traditionals on Repeat Until Band Camp.\u00a0\u00a0The Victors, Let’s Go Blue, skip over Varsity, T Dubs…ah, yes, now loop T Dubs ad infinitum!\u00a0 Problem solved!\u00a0 (You might also want to practice traditionals so you can make pregame next season.)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
