The candy corn tree and strings<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(both web and metal)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of an open mic echoing in halls I once walked<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My own breath becoming fog in<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lamplit snow falling as we passed out candy from<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An antique plastic pumpkin<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Watching together as skeletons dance in gourds<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every porch lined with grinning faces<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their night-sky mold interior lit by electric candles<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sky clearing just in time to see the Hunter\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moon hanging in those last moments of running<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the dark, in my mask, in the cold, content<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will wish everyone I know and those I pass<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That feeling of being at home in all this<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My ideal is to be a worm-infested caramel apple<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoping to be sickly sweet and full of life<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes I worry I make a ghost of myself<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But tonight, I get to come back<\/p>\n\n\n\n
