I follow the path of quills and daffodils<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blue ground-facing stars and yellow suns<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spring soil night as the sky above<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turns dim, a growing grey<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But a welcome one in place of<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gloom that has begun to break<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And as I walk I see dozens of others<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All with their glasses that turn the sun<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Into a campfire crescent moon<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Celebrating on every patch of grass<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the front lawns where<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A cracked, plastic skeleton rests in a pile<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I end up at the cemetery, fellow sky-gazers<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sitting amongst the headstones as<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trees begin to bud, robins rushing between them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starry blue flowers sprouting beneath<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As moss creeps across the polished names<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And lichen-loved stones<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Like faces and upturned mushrooms caps<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And just in time I find a place<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where the branches part<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where I feel welcomed to sit beside the graves<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where the sounds of my eyelashes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Against the dark film that guards them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sounds like rustling in the pinecones and dry leaves<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the chirp of birds reaches its crescendo<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As that waning crescent almost gives way<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before waxing yet again<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I spend a few more moments<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Planted in the grass<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before making my way out of the cemetery<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I pick a direction, and on I go<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because as the sky brightens<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s so many<\/p>\n\n\n\n
White-winged moths, wolf spiders, cranes, colonies of ants<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To spot along the path<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I hope to see them all<\/p>\n\n\n\n
