{"id":26407,"date":"2024-12-29T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-29T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/?p=26407"},"modified":"2025-01-01T10:27:46","modified_gmt":"2025-01-01T15:27:46","slug":"capturing-campus-post-gestation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/2024\/12\/29\/capturing-campus-post-gestation\/","title":{"rendered":"Capturing Campus: Post-gestation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>new year, old her<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>scared of nothing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>worth the fear<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>who knew nothing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>watched with clean eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>lucky<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>she knew she was&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>but didn\u2019t know&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the possibilities that mold and fur<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>on the tongue&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the promises of freedom<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>that smoldered&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>like the end of a cigarette&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>snuffed out&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>walking by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>faceless people dying on faceless ground<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>turning heads away from death<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>kicking change from Big Gulp cups<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>because there aren\u2019t any Coinstars where we\u2019re going<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>where we\u2019re going&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>some argue is already written<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>but the news is always new<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>always angry&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>spitting words wedged between molars&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>spoken without pause&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>not meant to be held by a head<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>how can shoulders bear<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the weight?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>waiting for the refresh to stop&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>circling the drain<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>staring at the screen&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>calling it a friend<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>because who has friends these days?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>red veins where the whites were<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it\u2019s time to go to sleep;
