I go under. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Water rushing into my ears,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

bubbling out of my nose,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

eye sockets overflowing with its saltiness<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

my body sinks<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

deeper.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As the black dye pinned to my skin<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

for the past 43 years <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

seeps off <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

dissipating into <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

tendrils,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

creating a dark, hazy atmosphere<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

above my heavy head<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

My body, feather-light, floats lower,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

lower.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I become the black<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

clunky dye,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

drifting higher, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

higher,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

to the surface then <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Spreading.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am lies<\/span><\/p>\n

contorted truths of passion and empathy for our family’s downfall.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am greed <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

thirsting, devouring, licking clean all the wealth of my life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am anger<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

slapping, spitting, singeing, done to those I know best.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Tunneling down<\/span><\/p>\n

ricocheting against the green waters,<\/span><\/p>\n

I become numb to my senses.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

I see cloaked darkness, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

hearing the grain of dust fall in, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

tasting the liquid that consumes my molecular structure. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I hit a wall.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I think my back feels<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

the splintered wood of a boat.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
