Every year on Thanksgiving, my great aunt would read a poem her father read to her called The Turkey Gobbler<\/em>. In honor of that tradition, here is a poem of all of the things I am grateful for (and you should be grateful for!) at The University of Michigan.<\/p>\n

Thanksgiving day comes but once a year<\/div>\n
And always it is filled with cheer<\/div>\n
Unless of course we do forget<\/div>\n
To say our thanks to the people we’ve met<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So tell your family and tell your friends<\/div>\n
How happy you are that your love never ends<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Then look to the west and HAIL\u00a0the Big House<\/div>\n
Pizza House feta bread could please a Michigan mouse<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Say thanks to the profs and all the GSIs<\/div>\n
Shake your advisor’s hand as you say your goodbyes<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Make sure your colors always bleed maize and blue<\/div>\n
And take a big sip of some Ann Arbor brew<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Then head to the Diag and skip over the M<\/div>\n
Say thanks to the squirrels as they scurry to the Den<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Take a walk by the Huron<\/div>\n
Meet your friends in the Ugli<\/div>\n
Sneak some food out the dining halls<\/div>\n
Quote JFK smugly<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The law quad is perfect for some quality pictures<\/div>\n
At Charley’s you’ll surely find some top notch mixtures<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So gather your blue books and your number 2 pencils<\/div>\n
The Union’s got you covered for fun UMix late night specials<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Check the tea out at Wisdom<\/div>\n
And down at Tea Haus<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Try the\u00a0coffee at\u00a0Amer’s<\/div>\n
And\u00a0Espresso Royale<\/div>\n
Be jolly at Pumpkin<\/div>\n
For a nice stout or pale ale<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Run around the Arb<\/div>\n
And pet\u00a0the dogs at finals<\/div>\n
Paint the rock at night<\/div>\n
Play your hipster rock vinyls<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Do trivia at Brown Jug<\/div>\n
Or maybe someplace else<\/div>\n
Find some chalk at Mash<\/div>\n
Hunt fairy doors<\/div>\n
Look for elves<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Work hard all day<\/div>\n
Then play hard at night<\/div>\n
Dance ’til the morning<\/div>\n
Skeeps, Rick’s, and Necto dim the light<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Have an egg on your Frita<\/div>\n
Walk barefoot in the fountain<\/div>\n
Find your painting at UMMA<\/div>\n
Trek off to North like it’s a mountain<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Grab a book at the Dude, or maybe at Dawn Treader<\/div>\n
Literati has coffee<\/div>\n
And typewriters with letters<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Act chic in the Ross garden still sunny in winter<\/div>\n
Toast mason jars at Dom’s when the sun is a squinter<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Spend a dollar on Ground Cover<\/em> and help someone out<\/div>\n
But check out The Daily<\/em> for news without doubt<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Remember orientation as you don your cap and gown<\/div>\n
Think of it gratefully and don’t you dare frown<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Theres another thing you really must do<\/div>\n
And if you don’t, this day you’ll rue<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Take hold of your tassle and move it side to side<\/div>\n
While you’re at it tell Schlissel he’s a really great guy<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The last thing to do is maybe most important<\/div>\n
Remember the block ][v][<\/div>\n
And say hello victors<\/div>\n
Do the right thing<\/div>\n
Shout Harbaugh’s name<\/div>\n
As we all come together to cheer for this thing we call<\/div>\n
the game, the game, the game<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
