little tree<\/p>\n

little silent Christmas tree<\/p>\n

you are so little<\/p>\n

you are more like a flower<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

who found you in the green forest<\/p>\n

and were you very sorry to come away?<\/p>\n

see \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0i will comfort you<\/p>\n

because you smell so sweetly<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

i will kiss your sweet bark<\/p>\n

and hug you safe and tight<\/p>\n

just as your mother would,<\/p>\n

only don’t be afraid<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

look \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the spangles<\/p>\n

that sleep all the year in a dark box<\/p>\n

dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine,<\/p>\n

the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,<\/p>\n

put up your little arms<\/p>\n

and i’ll give them all to you to hold<\/p>\n

every finger shall have its ring<\/p>\n

and there won’t be a single place dark or unhappy<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

then when you’re quite dressed<\/p>\n

you’ll stand in the window for everyone to see<\/p>\n

and how they’ll stare!<\/p>\n

oh but you’ll be very proud<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and my little sister and i will take hands<\/p>\n

and looking up at our beautiful tree<\/p>\n

we’ll dance and sing<\/p>\n

As you find comfort within the sprigs of this picture poem, among the hugs and warmth of human kindness, let me raise a cup of cheer to you all.<\/p>\n

Love thy trees. Love thy neighbors. Love thyselves and thy spirits. Love thy love.<\/p>\n

There is nothing on this earth that couldn’t benefit from feeling your touch, your awareness, your acknowledgment of their place here in relation to yours.
