{"id":8611,"date":"2017-11-14T14:32:35","date_gmt":"2017-11-14T18:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/?p=8611"},"modified":"2017-11-14T14:32:35","modified_gmt":"2017-11-14T18:32:35","slug":"american-idol-vs-the-voice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/2017\/11\/14\/american-idol-vs-the-voice\/","title":{"rendered":"American Idol vs. The Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8613\" src=\"http:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-content\/uploads\/american-idol.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"178\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-8614 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-voice-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-voice-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-voice-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-voice.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 204px) 100vw, 204px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fall season is about the weather, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and TV shows. \u00a0All of the good shows\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th watching come back on in the fall: th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e dr<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amas, comedies, game shows, reality, or a combination of several. \u00a0A popular mix between reality and game shows are talent shows; these<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0include things\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from American Idol to Cake Wars. \u00a0It\u2019s a staple genre all throughout the world, not only in the US. \u00a0A big chunk of the talent shows have to do with singing. \u00a0There is the X-Factor, American Idol, The Voice, about half of the contestants on America\u2019s Got Talent, and Boy Band. \u00a0With so many shows for people to choose from th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e question is: How do you decide which show(s) to watch<\/span>?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do all of these shows have an audience? \u00a0Is it the same audience watching all of these shows? \u00a0Or do different people watch? \u00a0If that\u2019s the case then how do people choose which show to watch because they are all virtually the same show (except AGT because you can do more than sing)? \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do they decide what show to watch based on the judges? \u00a0This is likely, because once Paula and then more notably, Simon, left American Idol the show lost viewers and ultimately ended until it will be rebooted next year. \u00a0Then The Voice has Adam Levine and Blake Shelton to get viewers who like pop a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nd\/or country so they could potentially be reaching more people. \u00a0Then The Voice added Miley Cyrus for younger viewers and for people who wanted to see what she is doing now after her wrecking ball phase and they watch to see if she will actually be a good judge. \u00a0So Miley brings in more viewers. \u00a0The Voice is good at getting people to watch more based on the judges then based on the talent and the a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ctual show. \u00a0The X-Factor had Simon as the main judge after American Idol (because he created the show) and the show ended within 5 seasons because it wasn\u2019t producing stars like American Idol had and the judges weren\u2019t good enough to watch on there own compared to the entertainment on The Voice of watching Blake and Adam talk and argue back and forth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People don\u2019t watch the show because they like the way its set up better than other singing shows. \u00a0Each show is essentially set up the same way: auditions, cut offs, then live shows where people can vote from the top 24 contestants. \u00a0So there is really no difference in the big picture, each show just changes a little bit in each stage to make it unique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People could possibly watch for the stars that arise from the show. \u00a0If that\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s the case then American Idol should not have stopped because they were the only show that brought any big stars like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Daughtry (and Daughtry didn\u2019t even win!). \u00a0No other show has created a star on any level like the ones that American Idol produced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on these factors and more people decide which talent singing show they want to watch. \u00a0For some, they can also be interchangeable based on the judges and contestants each season.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fall season is about the weather, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and TV shows. \u00a0All of the good shows\u00a0worth watching come back on in the fall: the dramas, comedies, game shows, reality, or a combination of several. \u00a0A popular mix between reality and game shows are talent shows; these\u00a0include things\u00a0from American Idol to Cake Wars. \u00a0It\u2019s a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2188,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[776,192,647],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8611"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2188"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8611"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8611\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":8616,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8611\/revisions\/8616"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8611"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8611"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/artsatmichigan.umich.edu\/ink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8611"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
