Looking to explore the arts, but low on funds? Many local organizations offer discounted or even free tickets for students with valid ID. Here’s a list of several spots around Ann Arbor that offer discounted tickets for students. You can also sign up for our weekly Arts Info email for a list of upcoming events, many of which are free!
Passport ticket vouchers are created every two weeks during the academic year. Exchange the voucher for a FREE ticket by bringing it to the box office or ticketing location, or by following the instructions for registering online! Passports are placed at residence halls and community centers around campus. More information is available here!
Tickets for most School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) events performances and concerts are available for $16 with a student ID. Purchase tickets here.
The University Musical Society (UMS) is a performing arts presenter on the University of Michigan Campus. Whether you buy in advance or on the day of the show, University of Michigan students will always get the same sweet deal: All student tickets are $15 or $20, depending on seat location. You can also redeem one free ticket once a semester to a UMS even through Bert’s Ticket Program. You can purchase tickets here.
The Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, a community theatre group, offers discounted tickets to students for all performances. They can be purchased at a2ct.org.
The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra offers students 50% off most tickets: call 734.994.4801 for details. Tickets and more information available at a2so.com.
The Michigan and State Theaters, run by the same organization, offer a variety of art house and indie films. Located on campus, on Liberty and State streets, respectively, the theaters offer student tickets for $9.75 to all films, as well as a $12.99 monthly Student Subscription. Theatre NOVA offers Student Saturdays, providing discounted tickets to students. They also allow pay-what-you-can at the door tickets. Find more information here.
Tickets to Ark performances typically range in price from $15-$50. The Ark offers a free concert series called Artist Spotlight on the fourth Tuesday of each month, and sometimes offers additional free shows as well. Students get a $1 rebate on Ark-produced shows. The Michigan Union Ticket Office, located on the ground floor of the Michigan Union, offers a full-service box office. In addition to selling tickets to student organization events, the office tickets large university concerts, major speakers and public figures; live music, theatre and dance events around Ann Arbor; and more. Additionally, while it does not sell athletic tickets, MUTO sells football ticket validation stickers.
The League Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the Michigan League, handles tickets for all UMS, UM School of Music, and Ann Arbor Summer Festival productions.
