The Compulsive Lyres are a co-ed a cappella group at the University of Michigan dedicated to singing prettily, and having loads of fun doing so. Beginning in 1997 as an outgrowth of a University of Michigan Greek week sing team with the name 'Greek to Mi', the Compulsive Lyres soon severed formal ties with the Greek system and reorganized their audition process to reaffirm their dedication to musical greatness. The Compulsive Lyres were featured on the 2002 Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) album, and in spring of 2002 took first place in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) competition. The Compulsive Lyres remain the only University of Michigan a cappella group to have won this title, and appearances on the Today Show and other national programs soon followed. The Compulsive Lyres also founded the annual A Cappella Fest, before donating the event to the Michigan A Cappella Council.
