Midnight Book Club is a long-form comedic improvisation team that works hard to make you laugh, cry, eat, pray, love, etc. Midnight Book Club performs on campus once a month for FREE and on other college campuses, at College Improv Tournament in Chicago, and at Del Close Marathon in New York City. Hit us up if you like watching 'prov or if you like doing the 'prov itself!

Midnight Book Club Shows and Events

January 19th 2024
Joseph Gailey, Midnight Book Club

Midnight Book Club, our long-form improvised comedy group, hosted hour-long improv comedy shows on January 19th, February 16th, March 22nd, and April 12th 2024, all at 7 pm in Angell Hall Auditorium B. We typically host crowds from 250-300 attendees. As a student org, we perform free improv shows on a monthly basis to the University and Ann Arbor community.

Midnight Book Club Winter Shows

Midnight Book Club put on five long-form improv shows in Angell Hall Auditorium B on January 27th, February 17th, February 25th, March 31st, and April 18th. This show was free and open to the public at University of Michigan. In addition, our February 25th show was an all female-identifying performance. We are passionate about comedy and dedicated to exposing this incredible art form to all students here at University of Michigan.

Following COVID-19's challenges, students at the University of Michigan are facing unprecedented mental and emotional challenges--Midnight Book Club seeks to help students find solace through humor by presenting these comedy shows.

Midnight Book Club Goes Digital

Midnight Book Club went virtual and produced a featured night of Michigan-centric, scripted, sketch comedy that premiered in November. They partnered with a student film crew from the Department of Film, Television, and Media.

A2Z: An Improvised Podcast

Midnight Book Club, student improv comedy group, created an improv comedy podcast about Ann Arbor that uses a lot of theatrical longform improv techniques. Midnight Book Club is the University of Michigan's long-form improvisational comedy troupe. They perform free improv shows once a month that are one hour long and reach audiences of up to 250 members. They strive to remain free and accessible to a student audience - but as an independent student group, found it difficult without funding.

Midnight Book Club

Improv is an art form common among student campuses, but scarcely found of quality across the US. Midnight Book Club has had the privilege this past semester of training in both Chicago and DC in order to get better and learn the work from professionals. On January 20th they hosted their Winter Semester Show in Angell Hall Aud B. The show was completely free and demonstrated a level of excellence that provides for learning about improv - both skill and content wise.
