Michigan Performance Outreach Workshop (MPOW)

About

Michigan Performance Outreach Workshop (MPOW) was established to bring performing arts education to children in the greater Southeast Michigan community in order to promote creative expression, build self-esteem, and strengthen the community as a whole. MPOW strives to share the educational power of the performing arts and inspire youth through a series of workshops, performances, and education events both on campus and out in the community. Each semester, MPOW brings around 100 5th graders from the surrounding area to campus for a day filled with performances from students and campus-wide arts organizations and performing arts workshops run by students from all majors with a passion for the arts and arts education. We have also begun collaborating with local arts nonprofits to provide even more free arts education programming to kids in Southeast Michigan. We are always looking for volunteers to perform, lead workshops or help out with the kids during our events. Feel free to email us if you are interested in getting involved or have any questions!
