VSA’s Annual Äêm Việt Nam Culture Show 2017
February 4th 2017
Vietnamese Student Association
The Vietnamese Student Association hosts an annual cultural show called Dem Viet Nam that showcases traditional and modern dances of Vietnamese culture and a fashion show with traditional Vietnamese ao dai. This year, they had 9 different dances (5 traditional dances, 4 modern dances) and a guest performance by another student performance group. The purpose behind Dem Viet Nam is to raise awareness about Vietnamese culture. The entire culture show is student run, with over 100+ participating members (dancers, choreographers, planning board, and backstage crew). Throughout the entire process, the student choreographers create and design their dance to their chosen Vietnamese music (for traditional dances) and implement traditional Vietnamese dance moves and structural dance forms into the dance.
