Michigan's Got Talent is MUSIC Matters' annual student talent show! We welcome all students in the U-M community to participate in this event with any talent they would like to share. In order to participate, interested students must submit a video of their talent, similar to the act they plan on performing at the live event. MUSIC Matters then chose a select number of submissions to be featured in our live in-person event on February 20th at 7pm EST at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre. During the live show, certain acts were chosen to receive various superlative rewards, as well as hundreds of dollars in prizes.

MUSIC Matters held an art-making event at SpringFest, MUSIC Matters’ annual festival event. They have worked with Arts @ Michigan in past years and this year on creating an activity that exposed students to the arts. More specifically, the activity was to decorate pots to house small plants in (the plants will be provided by the Matthei Botanical Gardens). This activity was held in a tent where students walking through SpringFest, an event attended by 10,000 students, were able to stop and decorate a pot.

In the Arts section of SpringFest, Arts Ambassadors guided attendees in an interactive art project. Participating students created a collaborative piece of art through the guidance of the Arts Ambassadors, and once each person had created their own part, it was added to a larger piece that evolved throughout the day, in order to engage and showcase the creativity of Michigan students. This piece of art was reflective of them as individuals while being part of a larger work of art. Students from all different academic backgrounds were able to learn from one another by working to create a collective piece of art.
