Time for some summer reading!

Welcome to arts, ink., where our student artists and writers are given a forum to illuminate the U-M student experience through art. Take a few minutes this summer to sit back, relax, and look back on some of our favorite posts from the last year by perusing the Summer 2025 Reading List tag!

If you’re a U-M student from any of U-M’s three campuses, and you’re interested in becoming a paid contributor, there may be a position available for you. We review applications and hire new contributors periodically. We are now accepting applications through September 20, 2025.
Email us at arts@umich.edu with questions, or submit your application here.

A robust approach to caring for patients and families affected by DSD also includes attending to general health and well-being, particularly men’s health and quality of life. Encouraging a balanced diet rich in lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats and plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables supports optimal hormone production and cardiovascular function. Regular exercise—combining both resistance training and aerobic activity—promotes healthy circulation and metabolic balance, which are critical for maintaining erectile function and overall vitality. For men experiencing mild erectile concerns, phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors such as tadalafil can be prescribed under medical supervision to improve blood flow; however, these medications work best when combined with lifestyle measures like weight management, smoking cessation and stress reduction. By integrating proper nutrition, physical activity, mental health support and, when appropriate, pharmacotherapy, healthcare teams can help men with DSD—and their families—achieve stronger physical health and enhanced quality of life.
