Cyrene Update

Modified Cyrene a bit. I change how her hair frames her face. I made her tattoo artist apron into one of those full body aprons too. All the more to store ink with. She looks more disarming this way.

I haven’t been doing a lot of development stuff this week. Which is odd because I got two dnd one-shots sprung at me for spring break. I had fun making my new PCs but something awesome came up during my last session that I had to draw.

Aolinda of the Feywild

So my friend group’s doing an online dnd campaign over the summer while we pause our current one. It’s a joke-ish Feywild campaign with level 20 fey nobility characters bumbling around and playing matchmaker. The main story will be the history of the relationship between two NPCs, Queen Mentius and Lady Vethorin, from our main campaign.

This is Aolinda, a mildly unhinged College of Glamour spring Eladrin(elf) artist bard. She’s very full of herself and her art. She ran away from the Vethorin court to be the Mentius court’s premier artist/sculptor. Queen Mentius pays Aolinda handsomely to churn out ship art between Queen Mentius and Lady Vethorin. That’s why Aolinda’s one of the few people who actually kinda likes Queen Mentius. The campaign’s starting scene is gonna be a festival at Lady V’s court and I’m always joking that Queen M will crash it by hiding in one of Aolinda’s statues.

I plan on playing her like one of those snobby, delusional artists who insist that people who don’t “get” her art are stupid. I gave her a cherry blossom theme and associate her with light, warm weather clothes. She had a see-through skirt at some point but I scrapped it because it seemed hard to draw. I wanted to give her a crownlike headdress but she’s not a ruler so that wouldn’t be a wise move in-universe. I always had to check myself to see if the clothes I gave her were too conventional. She’s a weird artist, so I want her to look like a weird artist, not some trendy 20-something. I’m still working on her outfit stuff but I like how her pauldron tattoos turned out.

Kita Again

Upon placing Kita right next to her fellow player characters, I realized she looked way too modern. So I redid her. I wanted to keep her traveler aspect but I had to dial down the tourist part of her character design. I also toyed with her having openings on her boots in case she needed to release bees from her legs. I’m now working on making her face more inhuman with wider set eyes, etc.

Assassin man woot woot

So this is Syme! He’s part of a magical assassin family based off volcano spirits. They can get do this thing called a “volcano body” where their hair turns white and their body becomes volcanic ash and much faster. It can disperse and reform when hit which is convenient because the body becomes much more fragile.

I wanted Syme’s human form to be really pretty and have long hair. I based his coat off the villain of James Wan’s Malignant; I liked the silhouette. I might toy with adding more embellishments later, he’s a bit of a peacock.

I intended the volcanic form to have the “veins” flowing from a solid dot. I toyed with making it an eye or a small volcanic crystal. I think doing the eye is a bit more fun.

Mercenary’s Guild Members

So this was for my worldbuilding project. I decided to design uniforms for a political section in my world, the Mercenary’s Guild. I wanted to show the different ways members customized their uniforms. I went onto a website called Line of Action and had it generate poses for me to draw, and I filled in the uniform stuff afterward. I wanted to add some nonhuman members too.

Yet another Taya update(I changed her shirt)

I don’t know how professional character designers finalize any work, everything’s so fiddly. I thought I had taya’s design all figured out but then I placed her with my other characters and she looked too old-timey. I changed her vest to a sweater vest but that wasn’t fun to draw. I gave her this high-collared dress shirt and I like it better.

And I also decided on her color scheme too. At first I thought to make the coat mainly green with black accents but it didn’t look good with the shirt. I feel the reversed colors look much better now.
