Observer: Musician poster design

Here my objective is to create poster design for musicians to advertise themselves and help them look for jobs and add on their own website page. A lot times, we see very talented musicians with reduced visibility. Musicians might find it difficult to stand out and attract the attention of potential fans or concertgoers. With their basic information and past achievements on poster, able to achieve the purpose of promoting their music work and themselves as musicians. In this poster design, I specifically want to make the poster giving out a sense of record style so that my audiences could tell the poster is about music from distance without even reading the words.

Observer: Calendar imitation storytelling

This piece is a poster design for my original story taken place in ancient Chinese society. I originally thought about doing character illustrations with color, but recently I have been doing a lot of poster design works and just naturally drafted my project in a composition including words and information, which comes more and more like a poster design, in the end I decided to let it flow. I choose to use black and white this time as comparison to the mainstream poster designs. I use the poster to express my characters and the storyline happened in the plot. Some of my ideas come from traditional calendar design and incorporated typography designs to make them more interesting. This poster is about my story that I imagined with swordsmen, representing my love for fantasy and my enthusiasm for storytelling. I included several different art styles in it, including doodles, realistic, and figure sketches to achieve the goal of combining my interest in different art styles.

Observer: Poster Design for Musician

This is a poster design I did for my friend in Berkley. My goal here is to create poster design templates for musicians to advertise themselves and help them look for jobs and add on their own website page. With their basic information and past achievements. Posters provide artists with a platform for creative expression. The design of a poster can be an art form in itself, allowing musicians to showcase their visual identity and artistic vision.

Observer: Traveling

College is like ditching your hometown and rolling into this whole new chapter. It’s not just about hitting the books; it’s about breaking out of the hometown bubble, shaking things up, and getting a taste of real freedom. Whether it’s a different city or maybe even a different country, UMich is where you spread your wings and discover a whole new world. Go blue!

Observer: The City

In the midst of Ann Arbor’s serene streets, my thoughts often drift to the bustling urban landscape of New York City – the metropolis that shaped my upbringing. The city’s dynamic energy, the vibrant tapestry of cultures, and the ceaseless rhythm of life are constants in my reminiscences. From the iconic cityscape to the endless possibilities hidden within its neighborhoods, New York holds a unique allure. The memory of late-night escapades, the savor of authentic pizza, and the unmistakable urban pulse linger as a testament to a place where every corner tells a story.

Observer: Agriculture

Whenever winter comes, it reminds me of agriculture and food. I used textured brushes to mimic the traditional Chinese painting style. I drew the boy and the cow in a modern comic style to have some fun with the old painting style. I used the seal script type, used by the Chinese thousands of years ago, to stress the traditional Chinese culture in my art. China is an agricultural-based country, so I chose to draw the wheat field and the boy who herds the cow to represent the image of August. I left a lot of empty space and used very few brush strokes to make the image simple and textured. I used Procreate for this piece, to experiment with a different software program and used Photoshop to add the words to the image.
