Fable Friday: Anthousai

The Anthousai are the flower nymphs in Greek Mythology. I wanted to create my own modern take on these nature sprites. So, I made her clothes more reminiscent of modern-day clothing with sparkles, a short skirt, and boots. I gave her wings like a fairy since I thought they’d be a cute addition and kind of look like leaves!

Fable Friday: Japanese Water Goddess

Sorry for the late post this week! My inspiration for this week’s post was similar to the previous project I undertook. For this one, I wanted to focus on a sorceress that is inspired by traditional Japanese kimonos and then also her regular everyday clothing. I thought water powers would be an excellent contrast to the fire sorceress I previously was working on. I have a more dynamic illustration in progress right now too – maybe I’ll post that next week!

Fable Friday: Celtic Sorceress cont.

Continued with the same theme as the last few weeks. I took the character design I made for this celtic sorceress and made a more rendered/dynamic posed illustration for her. I thought the fire powers combined with the green outfit would create a compelling color scheme. She reminds me of a character someone would draw for DND – but may that’s just me since I haven’t actually played the game. Also, I feel like I may want to change it up next week with a new character, but at the same time it has been so fun working on this one character more in-depth. Stick around to find out!

Fable Friday: Celtic Sorceress Cont.

Hi everyone! As I alluded to last week, I thought I would share my process on a Celtic Sorceress design. I’m not entirely happy with it yet, I think I may add some extra gold details to the cape/cloak design. Also, I wanted her color scheme to be red, gold and green, since those are colors often associated with the Celtics and their clothing, but I didn’t want her to look to much like Christmas. I also gave her a cute fire lizard friend! I’m already thinking about next week being inspired by Japanese Mythology and creating a unique kimono design.

Fable Friday: Celtic Sorceress

This week I didn’t quite do a fable specifically but more of a theme. I wanted to create a modern female character that would transform into a magical Celtic themed sorceress. After some research, I found that the cloak pinned to one shoulder is a significant article of clothing that the Celtic people wore, so I made sure to include it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have quite enough time to finish the pieces before the post today. I was able to complete the character in her modern-day casual clothing, but I still only have a sketch of her Celtic sorceress outfit. Maybe I’ll be able to post the finished results next week!
